19/04/2023

On April 10, 2023, the Communist Youth Union of the Regional Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center no.1 (Regional Center I) organized a hands-on training session in collaboration with Dr. Lê Văn Minh and Medical Officer Lương Thành Phương from the SAR 411 rescue vessel. The training aimed to enhance staff and crew members' initial medical first-aid capabilities.

Dr. Lê Văn Minh, a physician aboard the SAR 411 rescue vessel, provided guidance during the training session

Ten participants attended the session, including personnel and crew members from the Communist Youth Union and crew members from Regional Center I's CN-02 and CN-06.

Speaking at the training, Dr. Lê Văn Minh, a physician aboard the SAR 411 rescue vessel, provided an overview of common workplace injuries and accidents, especially severe maritime incidents such as traumatic brain injuries, forearm and femur fractures, patient transportation using stretchers, and drowning.

First aid, Bandaging the victim’s head

The training was designed to update knowledge, provide technical support, and improve the ability to handle trauma and drowning cases during search and rescue operations; also in daily life, workplace accidents, and traffic incidents. The course covered fundamental medical knowledge and emergency response techniques for various injuries, training to provide first aid for drowning, choking, soft tissue wounds, and bone fractures in a detailed and specific way.

First aid for drowning victims

With the principle “Human life above all else”, the entire staff of the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center is committed to continuous learning and professional development to ensure the successful completion of tasks. Each staff member is ready to proficiently provide first aid for victims not only at sea but also at homes, in communities, and workplaces … to provide immediate, stabilizing care to victims before transferring them to medical facilities, treating them with the same care as they would be own family members.

Following this meaningful and practical training session, participants gained essential knowledge and methods for handling medical emergencies and providing initial first aid.
