Handover of deceased crew member following barge sinking near Ly Son Island, Quang Ngai

According to the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (Vietnam MRCC), on April 25, 2024, nearly 45 vessels, including SAR 412 (On-scene coordinator), SAR 274, and others, were deployed to search an area of approximately 250 square nautical miles off the coast of Quang Ngai. The search involved various methods, including diving and aerial flycam usage.

Until now, the search and rescue forces have found 04 deceased crew member's bodies of the sinking barge. By 16:45 on April 25, SAR 412 recovered and transported four deceased crew members to PTSC Dung Quat Port for handover to authorities. Search efforts continued throughout the night.

On the same day, the Director of the Vietnam Maritime Administration Le Do Muoi held a meeting with the victims' families, providing updates on the accident and ongoing search efforts. He also offered condolences and gave gifts to the families on behalf of the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Maritime Administration./.
