At 19:00 on 29th October 2023, the fishing vessel QNg 98308 TS, while fishing at position 15-52N; 113-12E (about 40 nautical miles from the East of Bombay Island, Hoang Sa archipelagos), there was 01 fisherman named Nguyen Van Chi had dizzy symptoms lead to unconscious, can not move. Facing the emergency of the crew, Capt Huynh Van Dinh of QNg 98308 TS fishing vessel immediately informed the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (Vietnam MRCC), a subordinate unit of the Vietnam Maritime Administration, Ministry of Transport to require emergency assistance.

Upon receiving the distress alert from fishing vessel QNg 98308 TS at 06:30 on 30th October 2023, Vietnam MRCC requested the fishing vessel to alter its course to turn back to the shore. Vietnam MRCC also coordinates with Emergency Department 115 of Da Nang City to provide remote medical advice. After the communication, the doctor diagnosed that the crew member had a stroke and his situation was worse, which may lead to brain hemorrhage and death; he needed to have advanced medical treatment immediately.

In the face of this emergency and challenging weather conditions, the fishing vessel QNg 98308 TS was too far from the shore to maintain the highest speed. In a coordinated effort, under the directive of the Vietnam National Committee for Search and Rescue (VINASARCOM), at 14:30 on the same day, Vietnam MRCC dispatched the specialized SAR 412 vessel to conduct the SAR mission. To ensure the most efficient care for the patient, Vietnam MRCC requested the Emergency Department 115 of Da Nang to send an emergency team with facilities to board SAR 412.

With utmost speed and precision, at 01:15 on 31st October 2023, the rescue force reached the fishing vessel QNg 98308 TS and administered first aid to the patient, stabilizing his condition. At this point, the patient was unconscious and temporarily paralyzed on one side. The patient was then transferred to SAR 412 for further treatment and transportation to the shore. At 12:09 on 31st October 2023, the patient was safely brought back to Da Nang City and handed over to the relevant authorities. The Emergency Department 115 of Da Nang received and admitted the patient to the hospital. Thanks to the combined efforts of the rescue forces and the medical team, the patient was successfully saved from imminent danger and remained alive.
