From September 22nd 2023 to September 26th 2023, Vietnam MRCC (the Centre) appointed leaders and experts from Vungtau MRCC (Regional Centre III) to join the delegation led by Major General La Dai Phong, Deputy Director of the Rescue Department of the General Staff, Deputy Chief of Office of the VINASARCOM, to perform propaganda and dissemination of : laws on maritime search and rescue; preventing and responding to, and repairing oil-chemical-radioactive spilling incidents and disaster at four provinces: Kien Giang, Soc Trang, Tra Vinh, and Dong Thap.

At the conferences, the delegation disseminated the prevention, responding actions, and solutions to oil-spilling incidents and disasters; protecting the ocean’s environment. They also disseminated relevant content on preventing, responding to, and solving oil-chemical spilling incidents and disasters.

The delegation introduced the Maritime Search and Rescue system; the International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue 1979 (SAR79); relevant international and regional legal documents; coordination status and legal documents on maritime search and rescue as well as handling maritime disasters. The Provincial Border Guard Commands of 4 above provinces also introduced regulations and conditions for fishing boats and fishermen to go fishing; relevant laws on preventing illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing according to IUU. Besides, the delegation gave gifts to the attendants.

The delegation visit the Border Guard Squadron 2 in Tran De - Soc Trang

On the same occasion, the delegation visited and worked with the Border Guard Squadron 28, the Provincial Commanding Committee of Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue, and the Provincial Border Guard Command in four above provinces.

The delegation's activities have raised awareness and skills in ensuring safety when fishing and transporting goods, and maritime search and rescue operations. Thereby, relevant forces can improve their ability to respond to incidents and disasters to minimize damage to people and property./.
