On the afternoon of August 29, 2024, the Regional Maritime Search and Rescue Centre No. IV (Regional Centre IV) and the Coast Guard Region 3 Command held a conference to sign the Regulations on coordination of search and rescue activities at sea in 2024.

At the conference, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command and the Regional Centre IV presented a report on the results of implementing the search and rescue coordination regulations in recent years. The two parties clearly defined their roles, functions, and tasks in search and rescue activities, and were on duty 24/7 to receive and process distress reports and be ready to perform tasks when accidents occur.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh, Director of the Regional Centre IV, also highly appreciated the coordination of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command in search and rescue activities at sea and hoped that both parties would continue to implement regulations well, strengthen propaganda, and thoroughly grasp relevant legal regulations to minimize maritime accidents.

Representing Coast Guard Region 3, Colonel Nguyen Minh Khanh, Deputy Commander, and Chief of Staff of Coast Guard Region 3 Command, emphasized that the signing of the Coordination Regulations with the Regional Centre IV in search and rescue activities at sea contributed significantly to the success of the mission, becoming a solid support for fishermen at sea, contributing to maintaining the security and sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Motherland.

At the conclusion of the Conference, the two parties agreed to sign the 2024 Coordination Regulations focusing on the following tasks: strengthening close coordination in information collection and exchange; organizing and operating search and rescue activities at sea; disseminating legal knowledge on maritime safety and security and coordinating search and rescue at sea and professional training and exercises. Based on the annual plan and direction of the superior agency, the two parties organize specialized conferences on search and rescue, training, and experience exchange between crew members and soldiers so that the two parties' forces can learn to improve efficiency and safety when performing tasks at sea. Based on the signed regulations, continue to research, supplement, and adjust to suit the actual conditions and requirements of the functions in the new situation./.
