In December 2023, Vietnam MRCC directly commanded and handled it own SAR forces; led, joined in and co-operated with relevant SAR forces to well implement SAR operations. Details are as follow:

1. On-duty operation and processing of distress at sea information activities

- The total number of received distress alerts was 26 cases, including:

Real distress alerts: 23 cases, counting for 88.5%; false distress alerts: 03 cases, counting for 11.5%.

SAR co-ordination cases without SAR vessel dispatching: 20 cases.

+ SAR co-ordination cases with SAR vessel dispatching: 03 cases.

In 23 true incident alerts, there were 05 maritime distress cases relating to cargo vessels, counting for 22%; 17 cases relating to fishing vessels, counting for 74%; and 01 cases relating to other vessels, counting for 04%.

- Total number of supported and rescued people: 88 Vietnamese residents and 01 foreign residents. 

Total number of supported and rescued vessels: 06 Vietnamese vessels.

2. Cases of SAR vessel dispatch in December, 2023

- On December 02, 2023, Vietnam MRCC dispatched Cano CN-03 which was on duty in Da Nang to successfully rescue 09 crew of the cargo vessel CHINH QUYNH 19 which was flooding in holds and 15 degrees listing to the port side at the position: 16-05N; 108-16E (near to Danang MRCC port).

- On December 12, 2023, Vietnam MRCC dispatched SAR 274 which was on duty in Da Nang to coordinate with other vessels (Vietnam flagged cargo vessel HAIAN PARK and fishing vessel QNg 98294 TS) to successfully rescue 09 crew of the cargo vessel GIA BAO which was flooding in holds and in danger of sinking at the position: 16-44N; 108-12E (about 25 nautical miles from the northeast of Chan My, Thua Thien Hue province).

- On December 24, 2023, Vietnam MRCC dispatched SAR 274 which was on duty in Da Nang to successfully rescue 02 patients on Cu Lao Cham islands (at this moment, the weather in Cu Lao Cham was North East wind force 6-7, gust force 8-9, heavily rough sea, normal vessels could not approach Cu Lao Cham to pick up the patients to the shore for urgent treatment).

3. Cases of SAR cooperation with relevant forces.

- On December 20, 2023, Vietnam MRCC coordinated with Fisheries Surveillance KN 375 to successfully support the fishing vessel QNg 94373 TS with 05 crew which was disabled and adrift at the position: 16°10'N; 110°20'E (about 118 nautical miles far from the East of Son Tra, Da Nang, on the area of Paracel Islands) to Da Nang safely.

- On 26 December, 2023, Vietnam MRCC coordinated with Malaysia MRCC and some other forces: the PTSC vessel Hai An, the fishing vessel KG 94607 TS (about 215 nautical miles far from the Southwest area of Vung Tau, bordering the Malaysia sea area), to successfully rescue 04 in the total of 08 crew of the fishing vessel TV 92020 TS which was unreported since 23 December, 2023.

- On 29 December, 2023, Vietnam MRCC coordinated with Coast Guard to successfully rescue 13 crew of 02 fishing vessels: KH 91656 TS (10 crew) and KH 96417 TS (03 crew) which were disabled, in the weather condition of force 6-gust 7 wind and heavily rough sea, at the 20 nautical miles from the South of Phu Quy Islands position./.
