SEARCH AND RESCUE MONTHLY REPORT

 FEBRUARY 2024

1. On-duty operation and processing of distress at sea information activities

- The total number of received distress alerts was 22 cases, including:

+ Real distress alerts: 20 cases, counting for 90.9%; false distress alerts: 02 cases, counting for 9.1%.

+ SAR co-ordination cases without SAR vessel dispatching: 17 cases.

+ SAR co-ordination cases with SAR vessel dispatching: 03 cases with 04 times of dispatching SAR vessel.

+ In 20 true incident alerts, there were 02 maritime distress cases relating to cargo vessels, counting for 10%; 15 cases relating to fishing vessels, counting for 75%; and 03 cases relating to other vessels, counting for  15%.

- Total number of supported and rescued people: 49 individuals, including 47 Vietnamese residents and 03 foreign residents. 

- Total number of supported and rescued vessels: 02 Vietnamese vessels.

2. Cases of SAR vessel dispatch in February 2024

- From February 23 to February 27, Vietnam MRCC dispatched two rescue vessels named SAR 412 and SAR 274 being OSC and coordinating with: M/V TRUNG THANG 568, M/V CSB 2013, M/V BP 090501, M/V BP 91201 and many fishing vessels successfully searched and rescued 07 fishermen of the ship QNg 11126 TS, which sank after colliding with M/V Trung Thang 568 at 15°16' N; 108°58' E (3.2 nautical miles from Ba Lang An Point, 70 nautical miles from Da Nang). Currently, the two remaining crew members of vessel QNg 11126 TS are missing.

- On February 23, 2024, Vietnam MRCC dispatched rescue vessel SAR 274 and the medical team of the Da Nang Emergency Center 115 successfully rescued a fisherman on a fishing boat - QNg 92607 Ts. This patient had difficulty breathing and a history of asthma. The distressed vessel was at 15°43 N; 111°16' E (183 nautical miles southeast of Da Nang).

- On February 29, 2024, Vietnam MRCC dispatched rescue vessel SAR 413 and 01 military doctor from the Border Guard successfully rescued 01 fishermen (who was suffering from chest tightness, difficulty breathing, vomiting, medical condition worsening) from a fishing vessel - BV 92446 Ts, at position 06°56 N; 108°57' E (232 nautical miles south-east of Vung Tau cape; 175 nautical miles south-east of Con Dao)./.
