SEARCH AND RESCUE MONTHLY REPORT

 November 2023

In November 2023, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center directly commanded and operated the Center's search and rescue forces; preside over, participate in, and coordinate with relevant search and rescue forces to well perform search and rescue work at sea. Specific results are as follows:
1. Permanent operations and processing of distress information at sea
- The total number of accident reports received was 25 incidents, of which:
+ Real distress alerts: 23 cases, accounting for 92%. Fail distress alerts: 02 cases, accounting for 8%.
+ Number of cases of coordinated search and rescue (without dispatching SAR ships): 22 cases.
+ Number of cases of SAR ships dispatching for search and rescue at sea: 01 case.
+ Of the 23 real accident reports, there were 03 maritime accidents involving cargo ships, accounting for 13%; 19 fishing boats, accounting for 83%, 01 other type of vehicle accounting for 4%.
- The total number of people rescued and supported is 145 Vietnamese people.
- The total number of vehicles supported is 05 Vietnamese ships.
2. Several cases of dispatching specialized vessels for search and rescue during the month
At 06:06 on November 21, 2023, ship SAR 412 was mobilized to successfully rescue 39 fishermen and the fishing boat QNg 90251 TS while operating at position 130 30' North Latitude; 1120 16' East longitude (195 nautical miles northeast of Nha Trang, about 275 nautical miles southeast of Da Nang cape) in the Hoang Sa archipelago area, the engine broke down, it drifted, water entered the ship's bow.
3. Some cases coordinated with the authorities
On November 30, 2023, the Center coordinated with the authorities to successfully support 01 fisherman on the ship QNg 950444 TS with severe pain in the right lower abdomen, suspected to have appendicitis at position 11° 13' North Latitude; 115°05' East longitude, about 396 nautical miles southeast of Nha Trang, safely entering Song Tu Tay island, Truong Sa archipelago.
On November 30, 2023, the Center coordinated with the authorities to successfully support 11 fishermen from the QNg 90458 TS ship that sank at 16°05' North Latitude; 111°15' East longitude, 180 nautical miles east of Da Nang, safely placed on Da Loi island, Hoang Sa archipelago./.
