Search and Rescue Operations for missing crews in the Waters of Ly Son Island, Quang Ngai Province

On April 29, 2024, on-scene forces included SAR 412, CSB 6006, and a group of cargo and fishing vessels mobilized to search for the missing crews.

According to information from the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (under the Vietnam Maritime Administration, Ministry of Transport), by the afternoon of April 25, 2024, search and rescue forces had found four bodies of victims and took them ashore, handing them over to their families and relevant authorities. Some information confirmed that these four bodies found were not on the list of five registered crew members onboard, indicating that there are still missing crews.

From April 24, 2024, until now, the search and rescue forces have mobilized nearly 300 various vehicles, including specialized search and rescue vessels: SAR 412, SAR 274, CSB 6006, public service vessels, cargo ships, passenger ships, and fishing vessels participating in an area of about 250 square nautical miles off the coast of Quang Ngai Province. The search and rescue forces have deployed various operational measures, expanding the search area based on drift direction, deploying divers to search within the sunken vessel LA 06695 and using flycams for searching from above.

After temporarily leaving the scene to refuel and replenish supplies, SAR vessel 412 returned to the scene on April 29, 2024, to resume as the OSC and continue coordinating and conducting search and rescue operations./.
