Signing Ceremony of the Coordination Regulation on Remote Medical Consultation and First Aid in Maritime Search and Rescue Operations

On the morning of May 4, 2024, at the headquarters of Hai Phong Emergency Center 115, the Regional Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center no.1 (Regional Center I) and Hai Phong Emergency Center 115 held a signing ceremony for the Coordination Regulation on remote medical consultation and first aid in maritime search and rescue operations.

The regulation consists of three chapters and ten articles, regulating principles, responsibilities, and the scope of cooperation between the two units in providing remote medical consultation and emergency care in maritime search and rescue activities. The coordination framework covers information and document exchange related to offshore and island emergency medical response, joint participation in drills and emergency response exercises in offshore and island areas, collaboration in providing first aid and transferring rescued victims to hospitals in and outside Hai Phong, and the exchange of victim information upon request.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Hoang Tiep, Director of Regional Center I, emphasized that establishing and signing this regulation creates a legal framework for both units to fulfill political duties effectively, especially in offshore and island medical, support for maritime workers and fishermen engaged in offshore fishing operations effectively, ensuring timely remote medical consultation and direct emergency assistance for rescued victims brought ashore.

During the signing ceremony, various departments contributed feedback, expressing hopes that the regulation, once in effect, will enhance coordination in remote medical consultation and first aid for maritime search and rescue operations./.
