At 23:51 on October 19th, 2024, the Vietnam MRCC (the Centre) received report from the captain of M/V AMIS STAR (Flag: Liberia, MMSI number: 636019537): while en route from Singapore to China, 01 crew member named ZHU MINGYUE (DOB: January 6th, 1970; Chinese; passport number: E77081187; title: bosun) suffered a stroke. M/V AMIS STAR altered her course to Vungtau and requested emergency MEDEVAC assistance.

Rescue team approach M/V AMIS STAR

Realizing that the victim's condition was very critical and could be life-threatening, the Centre requested Ho Chi Minh Coast Radio Station to provide radio medical advice, coordinated with relevant agencies and ship owner representatives to build a plan to evacuate the patient.

Under the directions of the VINASARCOM, the Ministry of Transport, and the Vietnam Maritime Administration, the Centre deployed the specialized vessel SAR 413, which is on duty in Vung Tau, to urgently leave the base for rescue mission.

The vessel SAR 413 urgently left the base to rescue one crew member of M/V AMIS STAR.

At 16:00 on October 19th, 2024, the vessel SAR 413 approached M/V AMIS STAR, sent rescue team with doctors on board to provide first aid to the patient, then disembarked him to the vessel SAR 413. Immediately afterward, the vessel SAR 413 returned to base.

At 18:15 on the same day, the vessel SAR 413 docked at the wharf of Vungtau MRCC, handing over the patient to relevant authorities. Currently, the patient is out of danger and has been taken to the FV Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for emergency treatment./.
