The Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration provided equipment and personnel to support response efforts to the flooding in Central Vietnam

28/10/2025

During September and October 2025, Vietnam was repeatedly affected by severe natural disasters and major storms and floods, including Typhoons No. 8, No. 9, No. 10, No. 11, and No. 12, which brought widespread heavy rainfall.

In the final days of October, a historic flood event in the central provinces caused extensive damage to many localities. Flooding was particularly severe in Hue city, where numerous areas were submerged. Local authorities mobilized all available resources to carry out rescue and relief operations for affected residents.

Recognizing the prolonged and serious nature of the flooding, on October 28, 2025, the Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration organized a working delegation to Hue City to coordinate with the municipal People’s Committee in supporting flood response efforts. In the locality, following the direction of Director General Le Do Muoi, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (Vietnam MRCC) released supplies from the national reserve stockpile to distribute to wards and communes in Hue City. These supplies included 100 life jackets and six specialized life rafts for rescue forces, as well as 400 personal lifebuoys provided to flooded households.

The locations receiving this support included:

- Hung Loc Commune: 25 lifebuoys and 10 life jackets;

- Loc An Commune: 25 lifebuoys, 10 life jackets, and one life raft;

- Phu Loc Commune: 50 lifebuoys, 10 life jackets, and one life raft;

- Chan May Commune, Lang Co: 50 lifebuoys and 10 life jackets;

- Regional Defense Command No.III: 60 life jackets, 250 lifebuoys, and two life rafts.

The delegation also organized a rescue team, with core members being rescue personnel from Vietnam MRCC and the Da Nang Maritime Administration. The team was equipped with rescue ropes, life jackets, line-throwing guns, and other equipment and was ready to conduct rescue operations in difficult areas upon request by local authorities.

In addition, the Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration prepared specialized assets such as search and rescue vessels and standby speedboats positioned in riverine and coastal areas, ensuring readiness to respond to potential accidents and incidents.

The Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration affirmed that it will continue to coordinate with functional forces and local authorities, while maintaining on-duty personnel and assets to ensure a timely and effective response when natural disasters or emergencies occur./.

The working delegation provided life-saving equipment to communes in Hue City.

The working delegation transported relief supplies to residents in Hue City.

The relief supplies were delivered to the designated staging point in Hue City.
