On 30 September 2025, according to Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (Vietnam MRCC- an agency under the Ministry of Construction, the Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration): the search and rescue forces have discovered two bodies in the Cua Gianh area. Of these, one body was found approximately 500 meters north of the sunken vessel, and the other about 1 kilometer south of the wreck site. Identification procedures are being urgently carried out to confirm the identities of the victims.
Despite on scene adverse weather conditions caused by Tropical Storm No. 10, including heavy rain, strong winds of force 8–12, and high waves, search and rescue teams remain determined to fulfill their mission. All available resources and technologies are being mobilized as rescuers race against time to continue the search for the 09 missing fishermen.
Earlier, due to the impact of Tropical Storm No. 10, at approximately 23:30 on 28 September 2025, two fishing vessels, BV 82756 TS and BV 92754 TS (with a total of 13 crew members onboard), broke their anchor lines, drifted and sank, resulting in 09 fishermen missing and four others managing to swim ashore safely in the Ly Hoa sea area, Quang Tri Province.
Immediately upon receiving the distress information, Vietnam MRCC deployed SAR vessel 631 to the scene to assume the role of on-scene commander for maritime search and rescue operations; closely coordinated with local forces, including three vessels from the Quang Tri Border Guard Command, to implement the pre-established search and rescue plan (SAR plan) covering a search area of approximately 180 square nautical miles, extending from Cua Gianh to Con Co Island.
Simutaneously, Vietnam MRCC organized two mobile onshore search and rescue teams to coordinate with the Quang Tri Border Guard Command, the Quang Tri Maritime Administration, and other relevant authorities to conduct search operations along the Gianh River estuary and coastal areas stretching from Cua Gianh to near Nhat Le estuary, utilizing advanced search and rescue equipment, including drones, line-throwing guns, and night-vision devices, to expand the search area and enhance operational effectiveness.
By 08:30 on 30 September 2025, the search and rescue forces discovered two bodies, one located approximately 500 meters north of the sunken vessel and the other about 1 kilometer south of the wreck site. Identification procedures are currently underway to confirm the identities of the victims.
The fishing vessel BV 92756 TS was found drifting ashore near Thanh Hai Hamlet, Bac Trach Commune, Bo Trach District, Quang Tri Province, approximately 50 meters from the shoreline and 4.8 kilometers from its original anchoring position, in an overturned condition. The search and rescue forces directed the mobilization of three specialized cranes, one excavator, and additional equipment to clear access routes and conduct lifting and towing operations on the distressed vessel. However, due to the hull and stern being deeply buried in sand, the heavy weight of the vessel, and cable breakage during operations, the initial salvage attempt was unsuccessful. At present, relevant agencies are developing a new salvage plan, involving the use of specialized equipment to continue recovery efforts and to inspect the vessel for any crew members possibly trapped inside.
Meanwhile, search operations for the missing victims, both at sea and along the shoreline, are continuing actively under the coordination of competent authorities.

The search and rescue forces have implemented coordinated professional measures, combining coastal, maritime, and aerial search operations.
