At 17:10 on December 19, 2024, Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (the Center) received a report: a Filipino crew member (name: Booth Villarimo Robert, bosun, date of birth: November 20, 1970, passport number P4949098B) was injured in the face, bleeding profusely, and lost consciousness while working on a cargo vessel MH OSLO, call sign: 5LER5, flag: Liberian, 35812 DWT (length 199m; beam 32m), IMO number: 9950430, MMSI number: 636021585, in position 20°23'N; 107°11'E (about 28 nautical miles southeast of Hon Dau island, Hai Phong), on the journey from Hon Gai port, Quang Ninh to Nghi Son, Thanh Hoa. The captain required immediate assistance.
MH OSLO ship with crew in distress
Realizing that the victim's condition was critical and could be life-threatening, under the direction of Ministry of Transport and Vietnam Maritime Administration, the Center dispatched SAR 411, which was on standby in Hai Phong, to leave the berth to carry out the rescue urgently. The on-scene weather situation was northeast winds of level 4-5.

At 22:12 on December 19, 2024, SAR 411 approached m/v MH OSLO, gave first aid and transferred the injured crew member to SAR 411 to carry him ashore.
SAR 411 lowered a working boat, approached the MH OSLO ship, and gave first aid to the injured crew member.

At 02:06 on December 20, 2024, SAR 411 brought the injured crew member to the Central’s berth in Hai Phong and handed him over to the authorities and the ship owner's representative.
Due to timely support, the victim has overcome the critical condition. Currently, the patient has been taken to Viet Tiep Hospital, Hai Phong for further treatment./.
