Urgent rescue one international crew member in distress in Vung Tau waters

At 14:05 on October 10th, 2024, the Vietnam MRCC (the Centre) received a report from M/T SEA HERMES (Flag: Palau, MMSI number: 511101504) was en route from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to China. While she reached Vung Tau waters, there was 01 crew member (named Cruz Jesus, DOB: May 31st, 1972, Philippino, passport number: P7613532B, rank: Messman) with symptoms of severe abdominal pain, vomiting, and sudden increase in blood pressure. The captain changed course to Vung Tau and requested MEDEVAC assistance for emergency treatment.

Realizing that the victim's condition was critical and could be life-threatening, the Centre, under the directions of the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Maritime Administration, deployed the specialized vessel SAR 413, which was on duty in Vung Tau, along with a doctor to urgently leave the base for a rescue mission.

At 219:15 of. the same day, the rescue team with doctors from the vessel SAR 413 boarded M/T SEA HERMES to provide initial first aid, then disembarked the patient to the vessel SAR 413.  Immediately afterward, the vessel SAR 413 returned to Vungtau MRCC’s wharf and handed the patient to relevant authorities at 01:06 on October 11th, 2024.

The victim was treated in the FV Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for treatment because of timely support./.
