Urgently rescue missing crew members after Typhoon No. 3

On the morning of September 8th, the Headquarter which was established at the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (the Center), the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport Nguyen Xuan Sang, and the Administrator of the Vietnam Maritime Administration Le Do Muoi connected online with the scene and local units to direct the search and rescue mission for missing crew members after Typhoon No. 3.

Under the direction of the Ministry of Transport, the Vietnam Maritime Administration, immediately after Typhoon No. 3 made landfall, the Center dispatched rescue vessel SAR 412 (on standby in Hon La - Quang Binh) to buoy no. "0” Cam Pha fairway - Quang Ninh, to coordinate with rescue vessel SAR 411 in Hai Phong to carry out rescue mission.

Up to now, SAR 412 supported 13 crew members of the m/v Bach Dang 01, and at the same time coordinated with other units to assist 12 crew members of the m/v Minh Anh 03.

In addition, SAR 412 coordinated with other competent forces to rescue 07 workers on the Tien Thanh 05 crane ship which was drifting and stranded in Vung Duc - Cam Pha and coordinated with the Border Guard force to rescue 04 crew members on the inland waterway ship HY-0496 successfully.

Currently, the Center is urgently coordinating search and rescue for several cases, specifically: At 14:00 on September 7th, 2024, the Center received information that the Hong Gai tugboat belongs to the Port of Quang Ninh Joint Stock Company while anchored to shelter from typhoon in the Bo Nau Cave area in position 20º51'03''N, 107º05'10''E (outside Quang Ninh seaport waters) with 07 crew members was missing. The tugboat Ha Long 08 (same owner) anchored to shelter from the typhoon in that area, fished the body of 01 out of 07 crew members of the Hong Gai tugboat out. There are currently 6 crew members who are still missing.
