The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (under the Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration, Ministry of Construction) has implemented urgent measures in response to Typhoon No. 1 in 2025, internationally named WUTIP, after a tropical depression east of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands intensified into a typhoon this morning.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 16:00 on June 11, the center of the typhoon was located at approximately 16.8 degrees North latitude and 111.9 degrees East longitude, over the Hoang Sa Islands. The strongest winds reached level 8 (62–74 km/h), with gusts up to level 10. The typhoon was moving west-northwest at a speed of 15 km/h and was forecasted to continue strengthening.
Forecasting the path of storm No. 1
Given the complicated developments of storm WUTIP, the Center has implemented synchronous measures:
- On-duty 24/7: Continuously update storm developments from domestic and foreign sources, check information systems and equipment to ensure effective coordination.

- Inter-sectoral coordination: The Center closely coordinates with the Border Guard, Coast Guard, Navy, Air Force and related forces to deploy rescue plans, ensuring safety for people and vehicles at sea.
The Center's leaders held a meeting to deploy the storm response plan No. 1 to search and rescue vehicles.
- Monitoring ships: Checking vehicles operating at sea, especially ships that have not had time to take shelter, have encountered problems or lost contact, and reporting regularly for timely handling.

Support for fishing vessels in distress
On June 11, fishing vessel QNa 92954 TS, carrying 2 crew members, had an engine failure about 70 nautical miles southeast of Da Nang. Fishing vessel QNa 92032 TS provided assistance but encountered difficulties due to large waves. The captain requested assistance in bringing the vessel back to shore.
On-duty team ready to receive and handle information about accidents and incidents during storm No. 1
Immediately after receiving the information, the Center directed the Da Nang Coastal Information Station to issue an urgent notice and contact ships in the area for support. Fisheries Surveillance vessel KN 319, 10 nautical miles from the distressed vessel, received the order to move and approached at 6:00 p.m. the same day and deployed support. The Center continued to monitor and coordinate the handling.
SAR 631 ship is on standby in Ha Tinh
With a proactive spirit, the Center continues to strictly maintain its forces and vehicles at the highest state of readiness, ensuring the completion of search and rescue missions, contributing to protecting the safety of people's lives and property in the area affected by storm WUTIP./.
