Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre Supports Post-Typhoon No. 3 (YAGI) Relief Efforts in Northern Highland Provinces

11/09/2024

In recent days, the prolonged heavy rains caused by Typhoon No. 3 have submerged the northern highland provinces in floodwaters. The floods have resulted in numerous fatalities and missing persons, with many homes swept away by flash floods and landslides. Many families are displaced, while some areas remain completely isolated, with supplies of food, drinking water, and essential resources running low.

In the spirit of humanitarianism, solidarity, and responsibility towards the community, and to assist the people in the flood-affected northern highland provinces, Mr. Bui Van Minh, Director General of the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre, led a relief delegation. The delegation supported the relief efforts following Typhoon No. 3 (YAGI) in the northern highland provinces. The team included the Centre's Trade Union, Youth Union, and Regional Centre I representatives. The delegation donated life-saving equipment, including 50 life buoys, 10 life rafts, and 50 flashlights to the Yen Bai Provincial Youth Union, as well as 50 life rings, 8 life rafts, and 50 flashlights to the Tuyen Quang Provincial Youth Union, along with food, essential supplies, and other necessary equipment.
