Vietnam MRCC urgently implements response to Typhoon No. 3 (YAGI)

Following the Official Dispatch No. 30/CĐ-BGTVT dated September 3, 2024, and No. 31/CĐ-BGTVT dated September 4, 2024 from the Ministry of Transport, as well as the Official Dispatch No. 4109/CĐ-CHHVN dated September 4, 2024 from the Vietnam Maritime Administration regarding Typhoon No. 3 in the East Sea, preparations for responding to the typhoon and heavy rain were made. On September 6, 2024, Director General Bui Van Minh and the “Emergency Response Team for Typhoon No.3” of the Vietnam MRCC (the Centre) participated in inspection teams organized by the Government, Ministry of Transport, and Vietnam Maritime Administration to check disaster response and search and rescue efforts in the provinces of Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and the Incident Command Post of the Ministry of Transport located at Hai Phong Maritime Administration. In accordance with the instructions of the Forward Command, the Centre coordinated with Maritime Administrations from Hai Phong to Da Nang to notify vessels to move to safe havens.

All forces and means of the Centre are ready in all conditions to perform tasks when an emergency situation occurs before, during and after the storm.

The Centre detailed plan for mobilizing forces and means as follows:

- Vessel SAR 27-01 anchors at the Damen shipyard hydroelectric power station, Hai Phong. Two canoes CN06, CN02 to dock at Tu Long wharf (opposite the SAR 27-01 on-duty position). Vessel SAR 411 is on duty at Lan Ha Bay, Hai Phong.

- Vessel SAR 412 from Da Nang to be on duty at Hon La Port, Quang Binh.

- Vessel SAR 274 and two canoes CN-01, CN 03 are on duty in Da Nang.

- Vessel SAR 272 and two canoes CN01-TSA, CN02-TSA are on duty in Nha Trang.

- Vessels SAR 413 and SAR 69 are on duty in Vung Tau.

The Center permanently take instructions from the VINASARCOM, proposes response measures and mobilizes vehicles in emergency situations, coordinates with the Border Guard, Coast Guard, Navy, Air Force, and Maritime Port Authorities in search and rescue operations at sea areas to be in the affected area of Typhoon No. 3 from Quang Ninh to Nghe An as forecast./.

The Centre representatives participate in the working delegations of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha to respond to incidents, natural disasters and search and rescue in Quang Ninh.

The Centre representatives participate in the incident response, disaster response and search and rescue at Lach Huyen Port, Hai Phong City.

Director General of the Centre, Mr. Bui Van Minh reviewed the response preparations to Typhoon No. 3 with four Regional Centres before attending the meeting of the Forward Command Center.
